INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY BAMENDA (IUB)
The International University Bamenda (IUB) is one of the first private universities in Cameroon. It is accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education by order no.17/0363…It has collaboration agreements with the State University of Douala for the promotion of quality education in Cameroon. IUB’s permanent site and structure is west of Bamenda (Bafut) airport, which became insecure because of the socio political crisis in NW. IUB now operates on Newlife Building (for administrative offices) and Saint Bernard Building, 4TH Floor (for lecture halls) all on the Commercial Avenue.
STRATEGIC GOALS OF IUB
Strategically, the objectives of IUB shall cover the following specific areas:
- Teaching undergraduate and post graduate degree programmes
- Giving scholarships through international collaboration, partnerships and networking
- Focussing on adult learners to satisfy their continuing education and lifelong learning needs.
- Collaborating with other universities to deliver quality education/ learning in Cameroon.
- Collaborating with industrial, governmental, educational and other organizations to deliver work – based learning programmes.
- Organizing in house and open programmes to enhance executive capacity of governmental, non- governmental and commercial organizations
- Ensuring best practices in learning, research and teaching at both undergraduate and post graduate programmes.
- Sharing global opportunities on research and development.
- Helping in building and recognizing our environmental, security, political, cultural, religious, economic and social responsibilities.
- Offering quality career – oriented academic programs to meet market demands.
- Preparing students for higher responsibilities to further contribute knowledge to the society

Is International University Bamenda accredited?
International University Bamenda (IUB) is the first private university located in Bamenda, Cameroon, West Africa. It was founded by Dr. Patrick Chefu Fusi in 1990 with registration number 000056. The University is accredited and linked to many international universities for work and studies and University of Bamenda(Uba) for HND programs, and University of DOUALA for the Degree programs and masters
following wide-ranging university reforms in Cameroon. Conceived in the English-speaking tradition, the University seeks to foster the essence of that system, while situating itself within the larger bilingual and multicultural context of Cameroon. Since its founding, the University has been a learning, innovation, problem-solving, and community-building hub. Motivated by a mission to serve the greater good, our students, faculty, and staff tackle today’s most pressing challenges with courage and creativity, making a difference across Cameroon and worldwide.
It is located in the historic town of Bamenda, NW West Region of Cameroon, capital of the NW Region West with head office at commercial Avenue and Main Campus at mile 7 Mankon, and 2nd Campus at T-junction. Although the University draws its students mainly from the English-speaking part of Cameroon, it also serves the other regions of the country and the international community at large.

Student Population
The student population is over 1,000, including over 20 who are physically and visually disabled. Adequate welfare provision for this later category of students remains a challenge and a priority for the university administration.
STAFF AND STUDENTS
Our highly qualified and diversified staff – comprising over 20 permanent and 150 part-time members ensures personalized attention for our over 1000 students. Collaborating with partners universities Like UBa and University of Douala in Cameroon. we foster a global perspective.
Infrastructure
Training at IUB is supported by modest infrastructure including lecture halls, teaching and research laboratories, amongst others. For effective implementation of the New Policy on University Governance which lays emphasis on effectiveness, efficiency and management principles based on rigor, transparency and results, the University is connected to the outside world via a fiber optic link to CAMTEL, a major local telecommunications company. The main campus also has a fiber optic network that interconnects most of the buildings on campus.

Cutting-Edge Research
Our Faculty engages in research projects covering infectious diseases (malaria, tuberculosis, and HIV-AIDS) environmental hazards, natural resource management, biodiversity, and plants These projects, funded by international and national grants, provide practical training opportunities for our students.
An Entrepreneurial University
Considering the option of the Cameroon government to allow State Universities to go entrepreneurial, the University of Buea has taken the lead, first by designing incubator projects that are managed by students to ensure that these projects develop into enterprises thereby creating jobs for our graduates. The University also came up with the IUB Corporate Ltd which is a central pool where resources are harnessed for the creation of a University Enterprise. Through UB Corporate Ltd, other business ventures such as IUB Finance (a Cooperative Society) and IUB Printing Press have been developed.
Diverse Degree Programs
With approximately 80 degree programmes at the Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD levels, we offer a rich portfolio designed to comply with the European Bologna BMP-System . Our programmes span fields such as Agricuiture, Accountancy, Biochemistry, Gender Studies, Medicine, Microbiology, Nursing, Translation/Interpretation, and attracting applications from both loc and international students.
Cultural and Sporting Life
Beyond academics, our students actively participate in cultural activities, sporting events, clubs and associations. We believe in holistic development and encourage students to explore their passions beyond the classroom.
